Rainbow bee-eater in the afternoon golden light

“Each afternoon I would find this bird trying to catch insects in the same bare tree, with the beautiful afternoon golden light it was a magic experience to end each day,” says Mick.

Known to the Noongar people as “birranga”, the bee-eater’s Aboriginal Dreaming story tells how the birds came into being when a rainbow shattered and its colourful shards fell to earth.
