This week’s reader photo was captured by Lauren Edwards.

“I had recently moved to a suburb called Upwey in Victoria. I heard a rustling outside and saw this little short beaked echidna (Tachyglossus aculeatus) outside my window. I quietly watched him from a distance with my camera, he was foraging amongst leaves for quite some time….very active little one,” says Lauren. “He then climbed up onto some decaying logs and found a hole that he disappeared into, I happened to get ready with my camera and to my surprise and joy, he popped back out just like this and I managed to get the photo just in time. Very proud of the result. What a cute little one.”
