VIDEO: Siberian Summer trailer
THREE AUSTRALIAN CLIMBERS, Natasha Sebira, Gemma Woldendorp and Chris Fitzgerald, reached new heights in mid-2015, when they clocked up a series of first ascents in the remote valleys of far north-eastern Russia.
During their five-week adventure, the AG Society-sponsored trio explored a string of little-known valleys near Bilibino, in Russia’s Chukotka Autonomous region.
Although they nearly didn’t make it there due to Russian bureaucracy, they found amazing climbing out in the wild tundra. With a short climbing season they experienced bitterly cold Siberian conditions when winter arrived early.
Siberian Summer, a documentary about their expedition, will be released in late 2016. Find out more here.
Read more about their expedition in the May-Jun 2016 issue of Australian Geographic (AG#132), out now.
