Clemmie Wotherspoon wins the Nancy-Bird Walton sponsorship
FROM AN IMPRESSIVE pool of women adventurers, the 2018 Nancy-Bird Walton Sponsorship has been awarded to Clemmie Wotherspoon.
Inspired by Robyn Davidson’s 1980 journey across the outback with camels, Clemmie is undertaking a solo, unsupported horseback trek across Australia.
Clemmie has worked with horses for four years in preparation for the expedition and hopes to shine a light on mental-health issues and the efficacy of equine therapy in treating mental illness.
Beginning in February this year, less than two weeks into her adventure, Clemmie had already faced bushfires, near-anaphylactic shock in a horse, midnight visitors to her camp and challenging treks lasting late into the evening.
