Rays of light parting the clouds

“The Camden Haven area on the New South Wales mid-north coast is an amazing place where I have been lucky enough to spend a fair bit of time over the years. From the unspoiled and uncrowded beaches, rugged rocky seascapes and an endless number of lookouts with spellbinding panoramic coastal views, it is paradise for anyone with a camera.
This photo is a single exposure taken from the Kattang Nature reserve at Point Perpendicular looking south over Dunbogan beach and Lake Hope towards North Brother Mountain. I had spent the afternoon driving up from Sydney in some pretty miserable weather but the entire time there was a tiny hole in the clouds to the East that I figured could make for a few nice shots later in the afternoon as the sun set over the Mountain.
It began raining and the sun disappeared almost immediately after I finished getting set up. A father and his kids came to check out the view and to tell me I was weird for standing around in the rain with my camera set up but not taking any pictures. I was almost ready to pack it in but somehow I knew what was coming. The sun popped out for a few minutes creating this beautiful scene. If anything, photography has taught me that a little bit of patience can go a long way.”
