A sunset silhouette of a barbed-wire fence with whisps of horse hair by Rina Thompson is this week’s AG Flickr photo.

“This image was taken just outside of Broken Hill, NSW three weeks ago,” says Rina. “I had been looking for something to silhouette against the impending sunset. After walking the length of this fence I came across this horse hair blowing in the breeze back-dropped by those gorgeous rich colours of the sunset. I especially loved that the wire was barbed to create a little more interest than just the straight plain fencing wire. Put it all together and this is the result.

I am a photographer living on the west coast of the South Island in New Zealand where I enjoy landscape photography in particular. The mountains, lakes, snow and combinations of some of or all  just amaze me. When I wake up every morning I have snow covered mountains right outside in the back yard. We have two major rivers and a fairly hefty creek running through our property (a Hereford beef stud) also providing the backdrop for many mustering photos done on horseback of course!

I fell in love with the desert and its completely opposite terrain and colour schemes on a previous trip, with fellow photographer and friend Paula McManus, six months ago. I was then addicted to the reds – everything NZ was not! So on my return to South Australia we drove to Broken Hill and spent a week there only this time the desert was not red but teeming with life and a healthy shade of green. I was not disappointed, though, as I came away with many shots and remembrances of Broken Hill, NSW.”
