The first baby Goodfellow’s tree kangaroo born in 20 years at Taronga Zoo has emerged.

THIS TREE KANGAROO joey is the first baby Goodfellow’s tree kangaroo born at Taronga Zoo in more than 20 years.

The father Parum, who appears on the #113 cover of Australian Geographic, is a resident at Taronga. Mother Qwikila was sent from Belfast Zoo for paring with Parum. The joey was born in September, but the little female tree kangaroo has only just begun to pop her head out for keepers to see.

Goodfellow’s tree kangaroos are classified as endangered and are native to PNG.
