To step inside Australian Geographic: Our Country Immersive Experience is to be transported to a world of wonder through sight, sound and soul.
A first-of-its-kind event for our iconic brand, this multi-sensory experience takes its audience into the beating heart of Australia’s vast wilderness via 40 impressive screens – up to 6m tall – and a 360-degree surround soundscape.
Our Country explores the natural landscapes of Australia – rainforests, oceans and deserts – and celebrates the grandeur and diversity of Australia’s wild places, with storms, lightning, fire and ice in their elemental forces.
Brought to life from more than 100,000 hours spent in the field by 25 specialist cinematographers, Our Country is a compelling and emotional event, stimulating all those who see it to want to immerse themselves in Australia firsthand.
The experience was created by Karina Holden, UNESCO Sydney City of Film, Filmmaker of the Year and Head of Factual at Northern Pictures. It celebrates all parts of Australia, incorporating exquisite details of nature’s textures mapped across screens and backed by the sounds of Country.
“Our Country is a work of imagination, grounded in the most breathtaking of places,” says Karina. “As we allow ourselves to be swept away by elemental forces, we are transported from Australia’s lush rainforests to its snowy peaks, red deserts to its aquamarine seas. The experience is intended to be deeply personal, as each viewer makes their own discoveries, surrounded by the sights and sounds of nature. I am a firm believer that before we learn, we need to feel.”
Australian Geographic, in collaboration with Northern Pictures, has partnered with Tourism Australia, TEG Live, Destination NSW and AAT Kings to bring you this remarkable immersive experience.
