The falls at the foot of a mountain

The latest Australian Geographic Flickr group photo of the week.

Congratulations to this week’s AG Flickr group member Laurie, for his image ‘Ladies Bath Falls’

“I have visited this location at the foot of Mount Buffalo, Victoria, a number of times. On this occasion, my wife and I were on a road trip along the Great Alpine road from Gippsland through to Bright,” says Laurie.

“Ladies Bath Falls are only a 400 metre walk in from the road that goes up to Mt Buffalo. We called in late afternoon when the shadows were deep and there was no direct sun falling on the immediate scene. I’ve always loved the rich colours and textures here in the rocks and foliage and especially the mossy green rocks to the side and above the falls. We were additionally lucky to have a moderate amount of water coming down the falls, just enough to provide a lovely cascade of white through the centre of the scene. The image was captured using a tripod to allow a one second exposure to best show off the water flow.”
