AG Flickr photo: Fern gully

THIS WEEK’S AG FLICKR photo is an ethereal shot of lush ferns, by contributor Paula McManus.
“I took this photo whilst on a photo walk with a group of photography friends in Waterfall Gully, South Australia,” says Paula. “The photo walking group meet on the first Saturday of every month and we usually choose a location that is within 30 minutes’ travelling distance of the Adelaide CBD.
While waiting on a bridge for a couple of the group members to arrive, I wandered to the other side of the road and looked down into a small patch of ferns. I loved the play of patterns, light and colour and took a couple of photographs before moving off with the group. It was a cold and icy Saturday morning and we were keen to keep moving.
Waterfall Gully is located approximately 5km from the city of Adelaide and is a popular and easily accessible waterfall park. There is a walking track from the first falls that connects to Mt Lofty and Cleland National Park.
I am fairly new to photography, only taking an involved interest in that began in December 2008. I try to capture that ‘something’ that I see, and with each shot I enjoy the randomness and wonderful surprise of the moment. Photography has given me so much – it has opened up a whole new world to me, but I would have to say that the biggest gift that photography has given me is the wonderful people who I have met – both in person and online. I have met some truly wonderful people that I am proud to call my friends.”
