AG’s editor-in-chief joined some of our adventurous readers on a
journey of discovery to our nearest neighbour, Papua New Guinea
While there she was witness to a volcanic eruption. Kadovar, a 365m-high active volcano lying 25km north of the Sepik River, has been erupting intermittently since 5 January 2018. Its 600 villagers have since been evacuated to the safety of Wewak on the mainland. Here, huge clouds of ash and steam billow upwards passengers look on from a safe distance aboard Coral Adventurer.
