A field of billy buttons surrounds Four Mile Hut, in northern Kosciuszko National Park, New South Wales.
Boltons Hut is a small hut located near the Finn River below Disappointment Spur. It was originally built in 1941 for grazing and rebuilt in the late 1970s.
Coolamine Homestead, New South Wales was built in 1883 for grazing. It is under the care of the National Parks and Wildlife Service and the Kosciuszko Huts Association.
Millers Hut was built of second hand materials by Theo and Bill Miller in the 1930s. There is no track to this hut, located on Long plain, about 2 km off the Port Phillip Fire Trail.
Old Currango Hut is located at the top of the Tantangara Plain with a fantastic view across to the Brindabella Ranges. The primary building was built in 1873 by Tom O’Rourke, who had been grazing on the plain since 1834. It is the oldest homestead in the Kosciuszko National Park.
Oldfields Hut was built in 1925 by Jack Pheney, for the Oldfield family.
Vickerys Hut, is in the west of Kosciuszko NP, was built in 1938 by Ross and Noel Vickery for sheep and cattle grazing. The site was previously occupied in the early 1900’s and used for breeding horses and growing potatoes.
Witzes Hut, NSW was built in 1952 by Clarrie Butler using the remains of a nearby 1880s homestead.
Goodandra Homestead is located about 15km north of Kiandra, New South Wales. The homestead was built in 1913 by Fred Lampe.
Pickerings Hut, Victoria, was built in 1953 for recreational and fishing purposes. Deciduous exotic trees shade the grounds surrounding Pickerings, part of its last allure to fly-fishers and solitude seekers.
Broken Dam Hut, near Kiandra, NSW is testament to the passion that mountain huts prompt.
Built in 1889, the oldest complete structure in Alpine National Park is Wallaces Hut in Victoria. Early bushwalkers and ski-tourers, taken by the hut’s isolation, called it ‘Seldom Seen Inn’.
Built in the 1950s for the Snowy Mountains scheme is the Valentine Hut in NSW. The 2003 bushfires scorched the distinctive surrounding snow gums, but its original red paint scheme has since been restored.
The Melbourne University Mountaineering Club (MUMC) is a landmark on the north-west spur of 1922m Mt Feathertop, Victoria. The hut was completed in 1996.
