It’s crunch time up at AG HQ and I’m oiled up. As AG art director, one of my larger challenges for the upcoming issue has been to get my head around the concept of peak oil, and how oil and its derivatives filter down into our everyday lives – and not just in terms of fuel… trust me, it’s complicated.

With the help of my greasy sidekick and deputy editor, Krilomaphone, who has been trawling through a multitude of stats, figures and breakdowns on all things oil I’m going to take all those raw, crude numbers, heat them in a cerebral furnace to fractionally distil them, at which point they will vaporize, after which I will condense the vapour and treat the fractions to remove irrelevant impurities, before finally arriving at a single-page mixture of the various refined fractions which are relevant and will (hopefully) make some sense to you.

If that didn’t make any sense, I guess you’ll have to look out for clarification in the next issue.

And before you ask: no, I haven’t been sniffing petrol in the name of research.
