A tiny, but thirsty, pollen beetle in the Botanic Gardens, Adelaide.

Congratulations to this week’s AG Flickr group member Richard, for his image ‘Pollen Beetle’.

“I saw this little pollen beetle (Dicranolaius bellulus) on a leaf as I was leaving the Adelaide Botanical Gardens after my usual weekend bug hunt with the camera. It wasn’t co-operating with the lack of movement, so I placed a small drop of artificial nectar on the leaf to try and entice it to stop and have a drink,” says Richard.

“It worked, allowing me to take a series of photos for a focus stacked image. It’s 18 separate photos ‘stacked’ together to make 1 final image.”
