Instead of taking flight, this seagull (Chroicocephalus novaehollandiae) surprised photographer Agnieszka Bachfischer with a hop!

There are plenty of seagulls to be found on Sydney’s beaches.
This week’s reader photo was taken by Agnieszka Bachfischer in Dee Why, NSW.
“I’ve always loved photographing seagulls; we have plenty of them in Sydney. I often try to catch them in flight as I like how they look with their wings spread. I was waiting near a rockpool in Dee Why on Sydney’s Northern Beaches for this one to get up in the air when it surprised me with this cute hop,” she said.
