A male Victoria’s riflebird sings and dances to attract a female in the Atherton Tablelands, Queensland.

This week’s reader photo was taken by Trevor in the Atherton Tablelands, Queensland.

“The Victoria’s Riflebird (Ptiloris victoriae) also known as Duwuduwu to the local Aboriginal people, is a bird of paradise endemic to the Atherton Tableland region of northeastern Queensland, where it resides year-round. Photographing riflebirds is very difficult due to their preference for displaying in low light conditions,” he says.
