THIS LOVELY SILHOUETTE OF a horse rearing in outback NSW is week’s Australian Geographic reader shot from contributor Samuel Pickering.

“I am interested in both landscape and wildlife photography and am only just starting to learn about the many sides of photography,” says Samuel. “It is becoming a strong passion of mine and I am currently saving for an upgraded camera body and lens kit to give myself the best chance of taking great photos.

I am 24 years old and work on high voltage transmission lines in New South Wales. I took this photo whilst working in the Wagga Wagga region. The horses were very active at this time in the morning and I managed to get this lucky shot whilst the horse was rearing. It was a special moment and provided me with a glimpse of the beauty that can be found in rural farm life.”
