Competition

Australian Geographic: Far North Queensland Travel Competition

Entrants

Australian residents aged 18 years and over

Exclusions

Employees of Promoter and the suppliers and agencies associated with this Competition, and the immediate family of all such employees, and any person involved in the management of any organisation which will benefit from the Competition.

Entry Period

Starts at 00:01 hours AEDT on Thursday 23^rd February 2023 and ends at 23:59 hours AEST on Thursday 27^th April 2023.

Entry

Entrants who do the following during the Entry Period will be automatically entered into the Competition:

(a)       go to www.australiangeographic.com.au/M173AG; and

(b)       purchase at least one (1) x subscription of six (6) issues or twelve (12) issues to Australian Geographic Magazine (print only).

Limit

Entrants can enter as many times as they like.

Draw

At 10am AEST on Friday 28^th April 2023 at the offices of the Promoter at 52-54 Turner Street, Redfern NSW 2016.

Notification

By email or mail on Monday 1^st May 2023.

Publication

The Winner’s name will be published on the Australian Geographic website (https://www.australiangeographic.com.au/) for a minimum of 28 days on and from the date of the Draw.

Claim Period

Within two (2) weeks from the date of Notification.

Unclaimed Prize Draw

An unclaimed Prize draw will be held at between 09:00 hours AEST and 17:00 hours AEST on Tuesday 16^th May 2023 at the offices of the Promoter at 52-54 Turner Street, Redfern NSW 2016. (Unclaimed Prize Draw).

The winner of the Unclaimed Prize Draw (Unclaimed Prize Winner) will be notified by email within two business days of the Unclaimed Prize Draw.

The Unclaimed Prize Winner will be published in the same manner as set out under Publication for a minimum of 28 days on and from the date of the Unclaimed Prize Draw.

Prize

The Prize includes a series of vouchers as follows. The Prize is subject to the Prize Conditions set out below.

·         1 x $2,500.00 Apollo Motorhome Holidays Rental voucher.  

·         1 x $173.00 Mossman Gorge Culture Centre voucher to spend on a Guided Dreamtime Walk for two people.

·         1 x $140.00 Daintree Boatman River Cruise voucher to spend on a Late Afternoon ‘Sunset’ Cruise for two people.

·         1 x $260.00 Back Country Bliss voucher to spend on a River Drift Snorkel for two people departing from Port Douglas / Palm Cove.

·         1 x $938.00 ABC Snorkel Charters voucher to spend on an Outer Reef Snorkel Charter in Port Douglas for two people.

·         1 x $360.00 Off Cambers voucher to spend on a Couples Mountain Bike Tour for two in the Atherton Forest Mountain Bike Park.

·         1 x $194.00 Paronella Park voucher to spend on one (1) night at a caravan powered site and food at Paronella Park, split as follows:

o    1 x $144.00 Paronella Park voucher to spend on a caravan powered site; and

o    1 x $50.00 Paronella Park voucher to spend on food.

·         1 x $330.00 Cairns Adventure Group voucher to spend on Barron River Rafting for two people.

·         1 x $900.00 Hot Air Balloon Cairns voucher to spend on a Mereeba Hot Air Balloon Ride for two people.

·         1 x $90.00 NRMA Palm Cove Holiday Park voucher to spend on one (1) night at a caravan powered site.

·         1 x $180.00 BIG4 Port Douglas Glengarry Holiday Park voucher to spend on three (3) nights at caravan powered site.

·         1 x $430.00 NRMA Atherton Eco Family Villa voucher to spend on two (2) nights accommodation in the Eco Family Villa.

·         1 x $450.00 Pullman Cairns International voucher to spend on one (1) night of accommodation.

·         1 x Oceansports snorkeling equipment package for two people valued at $426.

·         1 x $2,000.00 Mountain Design voucher to spend on a range of Mountain Designs items, which will be curated by Mountain Equipment in its sole discretion.

Prize Conditions

1.         In order to receive the Prize, the Winner must, within the Claim Period, provide the Promoter with a valid email address, their first name and last name (as shown on the Winner’s valid identification), date of birth, mobile number, full address and a valid proof of identity, such as a driver/rider licence or passport, so the Promoter can verify the Winner’s age.  

2.         The Prize will be sent via email to the Winner’s email address within seven (7) business days of receiving all information from the Winner as required under point 1 above.  

3.         All vouchers included in the Prize will be valid from the 1 May 2023 for three (3) years and will expire on 30 April 2026.

4.         Each individual prize and voucher are subject to the terms and conditions of the participating prize provider(s), which may include that participants in certain experiences meet health or other requirements and/or sign waivers or accept other terms and conditions.

5.         The Winner may use the vouchers together in one trip, or separately (subject always to availability per point 6 below).

6.         Availability of each individual prize and voucher is subject to change. The availability is based on seasonality. Blackout dates may apply. It is Winner’s sole responsibility to check availability and blackout dates for each voucher.

7.         Subject to the terms and conditions of the participating prize provider(s), if for any reason the Winner does not redeem the Prize before the expiry date set out in point 3 above, then the Prize will be forfeited and will not be redeemable for cash.  

8.         If the Winner redeems the voucher on an experience, accommodation and/or vehicle that:

(a)   exceeds the value of the voucher, the Winner will be responsible for covering the difference in price; or

(b)   is less than the value of the voucher, the amount remaining on the voucher is forfeited and is not redeemable for another experience or for cash.

9.         Unless the terms and conditions of the participating prize provider(s) stipulate otherwise, the vouchers must be used in full. If the voucher is not used in full, the Winner will not be able to redeem the remaining value and the voucher will be considered fully redeemed.

10.       Tourism Tropical North Queensland Limited (ACN 009 953 084) is the entity responsible for arranging and supplying the Prize to the Winner.

Travel and accommodation conditions:

11.       The travel itinerary is the Winner’s sole responsibility and therefore the vouchers must be redeemed, and all experiences, accommodation, and travel must be booked, by the Winner themselves.

12.       The Prize does not include any flights.

13.       The Winner may opt to use the vehicle rented using the Apollo Motorhome Holidays Rental voucher at the powered sites that form part of the Prize. However, where the Winner does not, it is the Winner’s sole responsibility to obtain a vehicle for use in such sites.   

14.       Unless expressly stated otherwise in the description of the Prize in these Terms and Conditions, the Winner is solely responsible for all costs and expenses associated with using the Prize including costs associated with:

(a)   obtaining suitable travel insurance;

(b)   meeting all government, consular, health and travel requirements applicable to the destination; and

(c)   taxes, meals, transfers, flights, travel costs, fuel, accommodation, sightseeing or other activities, and spending money.

15.       The Winner is solely responsible for meeting all travel and health requirements for any interstate travel and/or for participation in any experiences that form part of the Prize, including ensuring that any travel companions do the same. It is the responsibility of the Winner to check with all government health authorities regarding travel requirements and eligibility. Any fines, penalties, expenditure or inability to travel as a consequence of not meeting such requirements are the sole responsibility of the Winner.

16.       The Promoter makes no representation as to the safety or other conditions at the destinations and experiences.

17.       The Winner may be required to provide a valid credit card imprint or cash deposit at each participating prize provider for the purpose of covering incidental or other charges.

18.       In addition to any other terms and conditions of the prize provider, the Apollo Motorhome Holidays Rental voucher:

(a)   can be used towards daily motorhome rental hire, all Apollo 2WD vehicles, Liability Reduction Option 2 (The High Road), up to 6 camp chairs (depending on vehicle type), up to 2 camp tables, toilet chemical, one-way fees, extended roadside assistance, gas refill fee and taxes;

(b)   is redeemable at all Apollo Australia branches except Broome;

(c)   must be used in one booking (multiple bookings are not permitted);

(d)   does not include a bond – $250.00 authorisation required on credit card with Liability Reduction Option 2 as per Apollo rental terms and conditions; and

(e)   The individual driving the rented vehicle must:

                           i.        be a minimum of 21 years of age;

                          ii.        hold a valid full driver’s license; and

                         iii.        have held a full driver’s license for a minimum of 2 years.

19.       This Competition may be promoted through third-party websites such as Twitter, Facebook and/or Instagram.

20.       By entering this Competition, Entrants may be subject to terms and conditions of third-party websites such as Twitter, Facebook and/or Instagram.

21.       This Competition is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Twitter, Facebook and/or Instagram. Entrants understand that they are providing their information to the Promoter, Facebook, and/or Instagram.

22.       Entrants are solely responsible and liable for the content of their Entries and any other information they transmit to other Internet users. To the extent permitted by law, each Entrant agrees to indemnify, defend and forever hold harmless, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and its associated agencies and companies, against any and all losses, actions, claims, costs, expenses and damages (of any nature) which may be incurred by an Entrant in respect of the Entrant’s participation in the Competition.

23.       Any questions, comments or complaints about the Competition must be directed to the Promoter, and not to Twitter, Facebook or Instagram.
