A chance encounter with a rare snake

The latest Australian Geographic Flickr group photo of the week.

Congratulations to this week’s AG Flickr group member Ross, for his image ‘South-west woma’

“This rare and endangered south-west woma (Aspidites ramsayi) was photographed on the Peron Peninsula, WA,” says Ross.

“This non-venomous and virtually harmless python has almost disappeared from its original distributions in south-western Australia due to habitat destruction for agriculture and the introduction of feral animals.”
