A New Holland honeyeater visits the waratahs in Blackheath, New South Wales.

Congratulations to this week’s AG Flickr group member Peter, for his image ‘New Holland Honeyeater’, our AG Reader Photo of the Week.

“During a trip to Blackheath, NSW, I was fortunate to visit the Rhododendron Gardens. This New Holland honeyeater (Phylidonyris novaehollandiae) was a frequent visitor to the waratah flowers and was one of a number that had recently hatched young in tow.”

Despite feeding primarily on nectar, New Holland honeyeaters are not strictly nectarivorous and will supplement their diets with crickets and spiders.
