Even living in apparent squallor on a rooftop above the spice markets in Old Dehli this man still takes pride in his appearance. 2014 Canon AIPP (Travel) Australian Professional Photographer of the Year – Nick Rains

Taj Mahal, Agra. Photographed from across the river to the north, I wanted to create a sense of scale and the single figure of a security guard does just that. 2014 Canon AIPP (Travel) Professional Photographer of the Year – Nick Rains

This is the West Gate of the Taj Mahal at dawn. The apparent lack of people must be credited to our guide Harshwardhan Singh Rathore who has amazing local knowledge. He knew that most visitors make a bee-line for the Taj itself when they come through the main gate and generally miss the West Gate at first. We therefore went to the West Gate first and had the whole place to ourselves. 014 Canon AIPP (Travel) Australian Professional Photographer of the Year – Nick Rains
