Around The Globe
Around the globe, people in different nations lead very different lives. In this book, students will compare the population size and density of a number of countries, along with the income, health and energy consumption of the people who live there. The impact of these factors is demonstrated through a description of a ‘day in the life’ of the average school-aged child living in each country.
Australia has connections with countries around the globe. As well as trade relationships, Australians travel all over the world and many foreign tourists visit our shores. Australia has a particularly significant connection to countries in the Asia/Pacific region, as these are our nearest neighbours. In this book, students will investigate Australia’s connection with these neighbours in terms of migration, education and cultural influences. They will also examine the impact of foreign aid to countries such as Nepal, Vietnam and Tonga.
Indigenous culture can be found around the globe, from the many Aboriginal groups present in Australia to the Inuit groups of North America and Masai tribes of Africa. Throughout this book, students will discover the similarities and differences in language, traditions and religion that exist between the world’s indigenous groups. They will also investigate the sustainability of indigenous practices and the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.
