An interview with expert David Wells about the tenacious brush turkey, which is making a comeback in suburbs up and down Australia’s east coast.

IN THIS VIDEO, we speak to Dr David Wells from Macquarie University in Sydney about the brush turkey (Alectura lathami), which is making a defiant comeback to its pre-European range, turning up in suburban gardens across the east coast of  Australia.

David’s area of research is in brush turkey mating systems and behaviour, in particular the still poorly understood function of male aggression towards females.

Read more about the return of the brush turkey in our full feature in the May-June 2016 edition of Australian Geographic (AG#132), out now.
