Behind the scenes of the cutting-edge Perth Wave Energy Project in Western Australia.

CARNEGIE WAVE ENERGY’S technology, to be trialed near Perth, known as CETO 6, is based on the movement of submerged buoys, which capture the energy of ocean swells.

A hydraulic pump moved by this pushes fluid through the buoy or ‘pod’, where it is then converted into electricity, which is delivered to shore through underwater cables. Carnegie is testing the technology off the coast of WA at Garden Island, delivering energy to HMAS Stirling.
