Kakadu National Park and Arnhem Land are a mosaic of seasonal wetlands, tropical woodlands and stunning, art-daubed rocky escarpments. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage area for both its natural and cultural significance, Kakadu is the traditional home of several Aboriginal clans. Arnhem Land, its neighbour to the east, covers nearly 97 000 sq. km of Aboriginal-owned land ? home to about 16 000 indigenous Australians and a stronghold of traditional ways.
