This week’s reader photo of a koala and her joey was captured by Di Lymbury.

In this area surrounding Lismore, Northern Rivers NSW, many farm owners are actively encouraging the koala population by planting their favourite food source native trees. Each year they are rewarded with sights like this of mothers and joeys. Joeys will stay with their mothers from the time they’re born to around eight to ten months, but until then stay close by, clinging to her back as she moves around trees looking for food.
