A mother taxi and her tiny secret.

“I was given a tip on the location of a nesting Australasian Grebe (Tachybaptus novaehollandiae) and this was a temptation I could not resist! Such an adorable little water bird that carries her young chicks around on her back, it doesn’t get much more photogenic than this,” says Trevor Scouten, from Engadine, NSW.

“The nest was only a few meters off the edge of the pond, so I waited for them to leave the nest and go about their business fishing in the pond and moved into position lying down on the side of the pond with my elbows in the water and waited patiently for them to return.”
