The koala was stranded after water levels quickly rose in the Murray River.

LA TROBE University Bendigo student, Kirra Coventry captured the moment her classmates rescued a stranded koala from the Murray River.

The footage shows the students, who were learning to become river guides on Ulupna Island, pushing a canoe out to the koala. The koala then hitches a ride on the canoe and safely disembarks upon reaching shore.
