TODAY IT WAS ANNOUNCED that the Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin will be receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. 

The Walk of Fame committee said that the star was in recognition of the Steve’s oustanding contirubtuion to the entertainment industry through his wildlife documentaries.

In addition to the widepspread popularity of Steve’s wildlife documentary television series ‘The Crocodile Hunter’, prior to his death at Batt Reef in 2006, he was a regular guest on a number of American talk shows,

Steve most notably appeard on Jay Leno’s late night talk show 9 times over an eleven year period.

The Irwin family took to twitter to welcome the news on social media. 

I am beyond excited to share with you all that we have just received the news that Dad will be honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Dad changed the world by reaching out to people through their television screens to bring them on the adventure of a lifetime. To have his name on a Hollywood Star means the world as we carry on his important work,” said daughter, Bindi.  

“This is incredibly special and will ensure that Steve’s message of wildlife conservation is remembered,” Steve’s wife, owner of Australia Zoo, Terri said. 

In a separate statement from the Irwin’s Australia Zoo conservation site in outback Queensland, Terri added, “Steve has always said that he didn’t care if anyone remembered him, as long as they remembered his message.”

Steve will be honoured alongside a number of other inductees, including Kirsten Dunst, Jack Black and Jennifer Lawrence.
