David says he is “absolutely stoked” to win the People’s Choice vote and $500 prize.

“It means more to me than if I had won the overall prize,” David says. “I was rapt to be a finalist in this competition, which is important both artistically and scientifically in celebrating the best of our wildlife.”

David says Australian photographers feel extremely passionate about the ANZANG competition because it focuses on local biodiversity.

“There are very good international wildlife photography competitions, but it’s nice to see an Australian one like this promoting what we have in this country and in the region. The biodiversity is just so rich and we have so much to work with.”

The competition winners and finalists are on display at the South Australian Museum. Visitors have until 24 November to catch the exhibition before it tours to Western Australia and Tasmania.
