AG reader Ally Wilson spent hours capturing this footage of a cicada shedding its exoskeleton.

“This footage was taken in December 2015 when I was camping with my family at Carnarvon Gorge [central Queensland],” says Ally Wilson, who captured this impressive footage of a cicada shedding its exoskeleton.

“We saw a huge array of wildlife in our short two night stay, from platypuses, kangaroos, emus and even an echidna. One of the more unique things though was seeing a cicada shed its skin. It had chosen the tyre of our camper to do this! The entire process took several hours and it was quite amazing to witness,” she says.
