October 25 - November 5 2009.
In 2005, World Expeditions began running not-for-profit ‘Community Project Trips’ to locations all over the globe.
“The program offers purposeful adventures for everyday travellers, where the main objective is to improve the lives of other people,” says CEO of World Expeditions, Sue Badyari.
For more than 20 years Australian Geographic has sponsored adventures to the highest peaks in Nepal and in October, World Expeditions will journey to the Shree Bukha Deurali School in Nepal’s Annapurna region, in the small village of Bukha. An expansive 15-room structure, the school educates 368 pupils.
The 12-day trek to the school will pass through traditional Hindu villages and follow trails through oak and rhododendron forest to set up camp in serene locations that showcase dramatic views of the Annapurna Range.
On arrival to Bukha, a warm welcome from the students and villagers is guaranteed before the hard work begins.
“No skills are required to join our community projects, you just need an open mind and a keenness to commit to physical work in a team environment,” says Sue.
The project work will include general building and furniture maintenance, completion of a school canteen, much needed work on a clean water supply, and time permitting, construction of new furniture for the classrooms.
Make a difference and help people in need on this 16 day trip and support the AG Society at the same time.
