We're excited to be the project sponsors for one of World Expeditions Community Project Travel trips. The community project takes place in a Masai village in Tanzania, and the project aims to provide an existing community medical centre with a ready supply of fresh water and alleviate long, sometimes dangerous walks for it.

The Kakoi Medical Centre was constructed almost a decade ago by Tanzania National Parks. It exists to address the medical needs of a 2500 person community scattered on various plots of land around it. To make the service complete, a fresh water service is required. However the only available and reliable source of water is located 6kms away at the Osupuko Lodge which has a storage capacity of 20 thousand litres.

The project will have travellers helping to lay the 6kms of piping between the lodge and the medical centre. If local residents are healthy, they can go to school; if they can go to school, they will be educated; and we all know education is the strongest weapon in the fight against poverty. Our Kakoi Clean Water project puts in place the basic foundations for a healthy community upon which many other improvements can be made.

In this digital age we're all ready, willing and able to share stories amongst ourselves or on Facebook. But this is an opportunity to share a bit of YOURSELF with a community very eager to work with you. Following the 3-day project, the remaining ten days will be spent on safari in the Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Crater with opportunity to spot some of Africa's unique wildlife.

This will be the first step in connecting the larger village to clean water, leading to improved health for its residents. Once the project is complete it's time to spot some wildlife in the Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Crater.
