Recognising greatness since 1987, the Australian Geographic Society Awards are Australia's longest running awards for adventure. The Lifetime Achievement Awards for adventure and conservation are the Society's highest honour, recognising those Australians who have a lifelong commitment to their chosen field. Along with conservation awards added in the early 1990s, the AG Awards annually celebrate the best of Australian endeavour. As the AG Awards are a celebration of achievement and not a competition as such, not all categories are awarded annually. Each nomination and category is judged on merit alone.

Lifetime Achievement Awards
The Lifetime of Adventure recognises those special Australians who have not only lived an adventurous life, but have also put something back into Australia and inspired other Australians. Similarly, the Lifetime of Conservation is given to those who have demonstrated a lifelong commitment in the field of conservation. This award reflects the AG ethos that being a conservationist is not a trend, but a lifelong pursuit that all Australians should aspire to.

Adventurer and Young Adventurer of the Year Award
Awarded to some of the country’s most respected adventurers who have committed their time to their chosen field.

Spirit of Adventure Award
Awarded to people whose efforts reflect strength, determination and the ability to overcome obstacles to achieve their goal, while acknowledging that sometimes it takes more than one go to attain that goal.

Conservationist and Young Conservationist of the Year Award
While most of us are committed to improving our environment, there are some whose efforts stand out within the field of conservation.

To nominate an adventurer, scientist, conservationist or anyone else please email society@ausgeo.com.au with a short description of the person you wish to nominate.
