It’s almonds for breakfast on the beach for this stunning palm cockatoo.

This week’s AG Reader Photo was taken by Jessie Price on Seisia Beach in Cape York, Queensland.

“While on a work trip to the Northern Peninsula Area at the very top of Cape York, I was very lucky to spend a morning with around 20 palm cockatoos (Probosciger aterrimus) who were breakfasting on Indian almonds along Seisia Beach,” says Jessie.

“The birds arrived just before dawn and stayed to feast on the almonds for about an hour.  They were not at all interrupted by my presence, and indeed many seemed to pose for my photos- my photo was not cropped! I expected them again the next morning, but the almonds must have been crunchier elsewhere!”
