A fallen log becomes home to sprouting Mycena mushrooms.

Congratulations to this week’s AG Flickr group member Ray, for his image ‘Mycena sp.’

“I live on a rainforest-covered block which is separated from the Barron Gorge National Park by the Kuranda rail line. For the past 35 years I have spent a great deal of time exploring the tropical rainforest in my area,” says Ray.

“I retired over 10 years ago and became interested in photographing fungi in 2010, and what started as a hobby has now become a passion. There is an enormous amount of different fungi in the Cairns area. Much of it has not been researched or recorded and I enjoy finding photographing the many different fungi to show to the general public on Flickr.”
