Early morning sun bursts from behind the Cathedral Rocks near Kiama, on the NSW coast

The latest Australian Geographic Flickr group photo of the week.

Congratulations to this week’s AG Flickr group member Silvia Li, for her image ‘Shining through’.

Says Silvia, a self-taught amateur photographer from Sydney:

“To be able to enjoy sunrises on the beautiful coastline is what motivates me to get out of bed while still dark during weekends!

During the recent long weekend holiday, I had the chance to explore the south coast. One of the must-visit spots for photographers is the iconic Cathedral Rocks near Kiama.

It was a busy morning with a lot of photographers around, and I was eager to find a spot to capture the Sun coming out behind the rock!

I was a bit disappointed with the lack of water action, but the low tide exposed the green-moss rocks which added more depth to the image,” she says.

This is a 5 images HDR blend.
