A cascading waterfall with a rainbow in Queensland’s Border Ranges is this week’s contributor shot.

A CASCADING WATERFALL is this week’s Australian Geographic contributor shot by Kevin Ellis.

“This image was taken of the Purlingbrooke Falls in the Springbrook National Park on the Border Ranges between New South Wales and Queensland,” Kevin says. “I took the photo about midday to get the light on the face right.”

“I started into photography in the early 60s, learning the trade and filling in as a wedding photographer. I only recently returned to photography with the digital revolution – it beats smelly dark room chemicals and fiddling with enlargers.

I have travelled the world and found most corners; however, I’m yet to find a country that equals Australia for its huge diversity of landscapes. I’m not saying that there are not equally beautiful countries, but only that we have such a vast range of land- and seascapes, from our snowy mountains in all their splendor to the beautiful tropical rain forests and islands from the moonscape glittering deserts to the vast northern floodplains of our wet season.

I will spend the rest of my life, whilst I’m capable, photographing this wondrous country of ours and only hope that I can do it justice.”
