Huski Nimbus jacket
IF YOU’RE INTO trekking, there’s no doubt you need a full Goretex/e-Vent jacket to protect you from extended periods in nasty weather. But there’s little need for an expensive I’m-going-on-a-10-day-rugged-adventure jacket when you’re out and about in the city, or need a casual jacket. Enter the Huski Nimbus (women’s) spray jacket.
The Nimbus is a good second jacket to complement your hard-core bushwalking gear. Stash it in your car or chuck it in your workbag for emergency rain protection, wear it to the footy, or use it for your light bushwalking jaunts.
It boasts all the features you really need in a basic jacket: front zip pockets, a foldaway hood, and waist draw-cords. And for letting that moisture escape, there’s a back ventilation flap.
Seams are sealed with tape for added water-proofing and the mesh/taffeta lining is breathable and keeps the jacket light-weight. And for the piece de resistance, the jacket can be packed into the in-built stuff sack – replete with its own draw cord – which doubles as the inside of one of the pockets. Nifty.
The Nimbus had a good cut for women that also allows for lots of warm layers underneath. For guys, try the Stratus equivalent. It also comes in a raft of colours to suit almost anyone: yellow, pink, dove grey, coral, navy, glacier, aqua, aubergine and black.
Australian company Huski has been around for a long time – since 1956 – and those guys are known for producing some very hard-wearing work gear. So expect a good jacket that does what you need it to do.
For wind and rain resistance for any occasion, this is a great jacket to have as part of your outdoor gear repertoire.
