Help Aussie icons make the New7Wonders list

ULURU AND THE GREAT Barrier Reef need you. These two iconic natural Australian landmarks are competing to become included in the New Seven Wonders of Nature. This is a global search to recognise the seven most wondrous natural sites in the world and it is chosen by you.

Well, you and a billion other voting public, that is.

The New7Wonders of Nature campaign, established by the international New7Wonders Foundation, is expected to generate one billion international votes by the time the final seven are announced on November 11.

Uluru and the Great Barrier Reef faced some stiff competition to make the shortlist of 28 finalists, sitting alongside Angel Falls in Venezuela, Milford Sound in New Zealand, Bay of Fundy in Canada, the USA's Grand Canyon, and the Amazon in South America. This was whittled down from 440 sites from across the globe.

Tourism Australia managing director, Andrew McEvoy is urging people to support the Great Barrier Reef and Uluru in this final stage. "It has been estimated that both Uluru and the Great Barrier Reef need to secure 100 million votes each to put them in the running for the title so I urge anyone who is passionate about Australia to now."

Current ranking statistics reveal that the Great Barrier Reef is regularly in the top 14 picks of voters from around the world, whilst Uluru needs more support.
